Annual Security Report

Midlands Technical College has made a commitment to provide a secure and safe environment for students, employees and visitors on college property and comply with the provisions of the "Jeanne Clery Act," formerly known as the "Student Right-to-Know and Campus Security Act of 1990."
Policies/Procedures have been developed, approved, published and are available for review
on the web (link below), in campus Security Offices, Libraries and Personnel Offices that:
- Provide procedures for students, faculty/staff and others to report criminal activities occurring on college property and the college’s
timely response to those reports along with annual disclosure of crime
statistics.
- Address security of and access to college facilities, and security considerations used in the maintenance of college facilities.
- Address law enforcement authority of security personnel, encourage
accurate and prompt reporting of all crimes to security, and provide
security awareness and crime prevention programs.
- Address the possession, use and sale of alcoholic beverages;
enforcement of the state's underage drinking laws; possession, use and
sale of illegal drugs; enforcement of federal and state drug laws; and
alcohol and drug abuse prevention/education programs.
- Address the available sexual assault related programs, reporting
procedures, assistance, counseling services, accommodations,
disciplinary action and sanctions.
NOTE: Registered sex offenders are maintained by South Carolina
Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and a copy of the register may be
obtained at their web site (http://www.sled.state.sc.us),
or at your local law enforcement agency, or at campus security.
- Address emergency response and evacuation procedures.
In addition, the college uses the following means to inform students, faculty/staff and others concerning the prevention of crime, college security procedures and practices, plus encouraging the college community to be responsible for their own security and the security of others.
- College Publications - The College News and The Pony Express are presented frequently so that a significant percentage of the college community has access to information. The College News is available on the MTC Intranet and the MTC public website, both of which are updated regularly. The Pony Express is available on the MTC public website (http://www.midlandstech.edu).
- Seminars and films are presented to the college community periodically during the college year. Topics are published well in advance to maximize attendance by the college community.
- Pamphlets, brochures, and posters are placed on bulletin boards and in magazine racks throughout the campuses.
